fathers day

Fathers Day

A Father's Day we should cherish.

Father’s Day always feels a little different when you’re the one called Dad

I used to think of it as a day to celebrate my own father, to thank him for the support, the laughter, and the love he gave me and my brothers growing up.

But now, as a father of two young daughters, Father’s Day has become something much deeper.

It really is the small things that make you smile and warm your heart as a dad.

It’s the simple but impactful words or actions that make the biggest impact.

Like my youngest every night when I put her to bed, says “night, dad…love you”, or hearing my oldest play something magical on the piano. It’s things like that that make me feel like the luckiest dad in the world.

Fatherhood, for me, isn’t about being perfect... and I certainly am not perfect.

It’s about being present. It’s in the everyday things—teaching them how to ride a bike, (attempting to) help with homework, even if it sometimes leaves me scratching my head, or laughing together over a silly joke at the dinner table.

It’s in those moments when they ask those weird and wonderful questions, or they do something so beyond their years that stops you in your tracks.  Those moments make me realize just how much they’re growing, and how much they’re watching and learning from us, even when I don’t notice.

This Father’s Day, I don’t need grand gestures or fancy presents from their school father’s day stall.

I just need a new set of golf clubs and a few moments of peace and quiet....😉😄.

Joking, what I truly treasure is the chance to slow down and soak in these years, because I know they won’t stay little forever.

One day, the handmade cards will stop, the hallway footsteps will quiet, and they’ll be out chasing dreams of their own.

But for now, I get to be their dad, the one who tucks them in, cheers them on, and holds their hands when the world feels too big.

My daughters may think they’re the lucky ones, but the truth is, it’s me. I get to watch them grow, laugh with them, learn from them, and love them with everything I have. And that’s the greatest gift I could ever ask for.

So, to my girls: thank you. Thank you for making me a dad. Thank you for every giggle, every hug, every “I love you, Dad.”

On Father’s Day and every day, you give me more than I could ever give back.

And to my dad, thank you for everything, and I love you.... and, we're going to play Pickle Ball, so gear up.
